Toyota filed recall 26V570000 with NHTSA on September 2, 2026, covering certain 2026 C-HR battery electric vehicles. Toyota's filing says a software programming error may let the drive battery overcharge under certain driving conditions, which can shut down the electric drive system and cut drive power. NHTSA's record calls that an unexpected loss of drive power that raises the risk of a crash.
The fix is a software update to the battery electric vehicle electronic control unit, installed by a dealer at no charge. Toyota expects to mail owner notification letters October 18, 2026.

Is this the same C-HR that was sold before?
