NHTSA lists 4 recall campaigns that name the 2026 Jeep Cherokee as of October 13, 2026, and the newest, 26V559000, was filed September 1, 2026 for a tire pressure monitoring software error. NHTSA's records for all four give the manufacturer as Chrysler (FCA US, LLC), and the Cherokee hub lists the recall count for each model year. Owners had filed 7 complaints on the 2026 model year by the same date.
Which campaigns name the 2026 Cherokee?
Newest first. The population column is Chrysler's estimate of potentially affected vehicles for the whole filing, from NHTSA's recall API. Three of the four filings name other models too, so none of these figures counts 2026 Cherokees alone.
| Campaign | Filed | What NHTSA's record describes | Potentially affected | Owner letters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 26V559000 | Sep 1, 2026 | Tire pressure monitoring may miss low pressure or skip the warning light (software) | 201,975 | Mailed beginning Sep 17, 2026 |
| 26V531000 | Aug 13, 2026 | Rearview camera image may not display in reverse (radio software) | 844,027 | Mailed beginning Sep 2, 2026 |
| 26V223000 | Apr 9, 2026 | Brake system control module may fail, losing anti-lock brakes and stability control | 241 | Mailed Apr 28, 2026 |
| 26V059000 | Feb 2, 2026 | Trailer tow module may leave trailer lights dark and trailer brakes failing | 456,287 | Mailed beginning Mar 17, 2026 |
Only 26V223000 names the 2026 Cherokee and nothing else. 26V059000 also lists the 2024 through 2026 Jeep Wagoneer S and the 2025 and 2026 Ram pickups and cab chassis trucks. 26V531000 runs across Jeep, Ram, Chrysler and Dodge models. NHTSA's records for all four give a free repair as the remedy.
What does the tire pressure campaign say, and who shares it?
Campaign 26V559000 describes a software error that may stop the tire pressure monitoring system from detecting low pressure, from lighting its warning light, or both. NHTSA's record adds that the affected vehicles therefore do not meet the federal tire pressure monitoring requirement. It states the consequence as a higher risk of a crash, since a driver may not be warned that a tire is low. Dealers will update the radio frequency hub software free of charge. Owner letters were mailed beginning September 17, 2026, and NHTSA gives September 9, 2026 as the date VINs became searchable on its site. Chrysler's estimate is 201,975 potentially affected vehicles.

The Cherokee is one of several Jeeps on the filing. NHTSA's summary names the Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Cherokee 4xe and Grand Wagoneer for 2024 through 2026. It also names the Wagoneer for 2024 and 2025, the 2025 Wagoneer L, the Grand Wagoneer L for 2025 and 2026, and the 2026 Cherokee. The 201,975 figure covers every vehicle on that list. The Grand Cherokee has a separate rear coil spring recall history, which our Grand Cherokee recall post covers; it has no connection to this software campaign.
Camera, brake module and trailer tow: the three earlier filings
Campaign 26V531000, filed August 13, covers a rearview camera image that may fail to appear when the vehicle is put in reverse. NHTSA's record says that puts the vehicles out of line with the rear visibility standard. A dealer or an over-the-air update will install new radio software free of charge, and Chrysler estimates 844,027 potentially affected vehicles, the largest of the four populations.
Campaign 26V223000, filed April 9, covers the brake system control module, which may fail to operate properly and cause a loss of anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control. Dealers update the module's software free of charge. Letters were mailed April 28, 2026, and the estimate is 241 vehicles, the smallest of the four.
Campaign 26V059000, filed February 2, blames an improperly designed trailer tow module. NHTSA's record says the trailer lights may fail to illuminate and the trailer brakes may fail. Dealers will replace the module free of charge. Letters were mailed beginning March 17, 2026, and the estimate is 456,287 vehicles.
Which Cherokee years does RideTruth have complaints for?
The catalog's Jeep Cherokee entry holds model years 1995 through 2001, 2014 through 2023 and 2026. It has nothing for 2002 through 2013, 2024 or 2025, so there is no 2025 count to set beside the 2026 one, and RideTruth's data does not say why those years are absent. NHTSA's recall API, queried October 14, 2026, returned no Cherokee recalls for model year 2025 either.
Among the years the catalog has, the 2014 Cherokee has the most NHTSA complaints at 2,644, then 2015 with 1,787 and 2019 with 1,648. The counts for 2016 and 2017 are 1,407 and 1,333, and 2018 has 683. From 2020 through 2023 they fall from 317 to 167, 51 and 3. The 1995 through 2001 years run from 606 down to 226. The 2026 count is 7. The Cherokee years in the catalog hold 12,846 complaints together.
A tall bar means many reports were filed, not that a large share of that year's Cherokees had a problem. The data holds no sales figures, and 2026 is the youngest year on the chart. The chart draws only the years the catalog has, so the bars for 2001 and 2014 sit side by side with nothing between them.
Seven complaints, five areas
Fuel System and Transmission & Drivetrain are each mentioned by 3 of the 7 complaints, Other by 2, and Electrical and Engine by 1 each. Some of the 7 appear under more than one area, once for each area the owner listed. The data attaches no crashes, fires, injuries or deaths to any of the five areas.
None of the four campaigns lines up with these areas. RideTruth files tire components under Suspension, Wheels & Tires, and brake and stability control under Brakes. Back over prevention goes under Driver Assistance & Speed Control, and exterior lighting under Visibility & Lighting. The 2026 pull has no count in any of those four. Seven complaints is too few to say more than that.
Checking a VIN against the four campaigns
Each of the four filings names certain vehicles, so a 2026 Cherokee is in a campaign only if its VIN is, and NHTSA's recall lookup answers that by VIN. Add the Cherokee to your garage once, and each visit there checks it for new NHTSA recall campaigns.
