Chevrolet lists 2027 Silverado 1500 starting MSRPs from $38,600 for the Work Truck to $77,200 for the ZR2, before destination. Chevrolet posted those figures on its site after revealing the redesigned Silverado 1500 on June 16, 2026. The trim prices are below, followed by the outgoing 2019-2026 generation's NHTSA complaint and EPA fuel-economy record.
What does the 2027 Silverado cost, trim by trim?
Chevrolet's upcoming-vehicle page lists MSRP for all seven 2027 trims: Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2.
| Trim | Starting MSRP | As shown |
|---|---|---|
| Work Truck | $38,600 | $47,700 |
| Custom | $43,600 | $49,400 |
| Custom Trail Boss | $54,400 | $54,400 |
| Silverado | $47,900 | $54,595 |
| Trail Boss | $61,200 | $61,595 |
| High Country | $71,700 | $75,795 |
| ZR2 | $77,200 | $77,200 |
Chevrolet's FAQ on that page confirms the Work Truck's MSRP at $38,600, the same figure the table above shows. That's up $1,700 from the outgoing 2026 Work Truck's $36,900 MSRP, comparing MSRP to MSRP with no destination charge on either side. The "As shown" column is one specific, optioned example of each trim; Chevrolet doesn't say whether those figures include the destination charge.
Does that MSRP include destination?
No, and this is the part Chevrolet hasn't finished publishing. Chevrolet's disclaimer on the 2027 Silverado page says that the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price excludes destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment. Chevrolet keeps a running list of destination charges by model year on its site. As of September 25, 2026, that list covers the 2027 Bolt, Corvette, Equinox, Equinox EV, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban and Blazer EV, but not the 2027 Silverado 1500. The 2026 Silverado 1500's destination charge is $2,795; Chevrolet has not said whether that rate carries over to 2027.
What's new under the hood?
The 2027 Silverado carries four engines, all paired with a 10-speed automatic, per GM's September 17, 2026 engine announcement.
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Max towing | Max payload |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enhanced 2.7L TurboMax | 350 | 455 lb-ft | 9,400 lbs | 2,340 lbs |
| 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel | 305 | 495 lb-ft | 12,000 lbs | 1,870 lbs |
| 5.7L V8 (L76) | 402 | 428 lb-ft | 13,700 lbs | 2,170 lbs |
| 6.6L V8 (L78) | 481 | 501 lb-ft | 9,700 lbs | 1,510 lbs |
Note: towing and payload vary by configuration, trim and available packages; figures are GM's maximums for the Silverado.
GM calls the 481-horsepower 6.6L L78 the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. GM says the 5.7L L76 gives the Silverado a best-in-class 13,700-pound max tow rating. Both are new sixth-generation Small Block V8s, replacing the outgoing truck's 5.3L and 6.2L engines. The outgoing 6.2L V8, which we've tracked separately in our complaint history for that engine, is not among GM's 2027 engines.
How has the outgoing Silverado done on NHTSA complaints?
Chevrolet calls the 2027 truck the Next-Generation Silverado 1500, so this section covers the outgoing 2019-2026 generation. NHTSA logged 4,170 complaints under that Silverado nameplate as of September 23, 2026. NHTSA's records don't separate the gasoline and diesel truck from the Silverado EV, so a small number of these complaints may describe the EV rather than the gas or diesel Silverado this post covers.
The count runs 1,075 in 2019, 729 in 2020, 820 in 2021, 622 in 2022, 375 in 2023, 333 in 2024, 113 in 2025 and 103 so far in 2026. That's a rough downward slope with one bump at 2021, not a clean year-over-year decline. None of it is adjusted for how many trucks Chevrolet actually sold each year or how long each model year has been on the road. These are raw owner reports to NHTSA, not confirmed defects.
What does the 2026 Silverado get for fuel economy?
EPA's combined-MPG listing for the 2026 model year covers 31 configurations, and it mixes two different trucks under one Silverado nameplate: the gasoline and diesel Silverado 1500, and the separate all-electric Silverado EV.
The 25 gasoline and diesel configurations, spanning 2.7L, 5.3L and 6.2L gas engines plus the 3.0L Duramax diesel in rear- and four-wheel drive, run 15 to 25 MPG combined, with the diesel at the top of that range. The chart's top four bars, labeled "4WD, Automatic," cover six Silverado EV configurations rated separately at 64 to 70 MPGe combined. MPGe isn't measured the same way as gasoline MPG, so it doesn't belong in the same range as the other 25.
EPA has not yet rated the 2027 Silverado's new engines. When it does, the 2026 numbers above are the baseline they'll be measured against.
